She has collaborated with practitioners and researchers at RAND Corporation, Georgia Tech, and Urban Institute to advance program and funding strategies for parks and green infrastructure, strengthened knowledge and impact of cross-sector and public-private governance models for urban parks, inspired the formation of urban park-focused organizations globally, and connected a range of leaders from government, community-based groups, cultural institutions, the business sector, and philanthropy. Catherine has also held leadership positions with the National Association for Olmsted Parks, Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia, Greater Philadelphia First, and Nippon Television Network. She has served on the board of World Urban Parks and Young Playwrights’ Theater (Washington, D.C.), and in an advisory role to Cities Connecting Children to Nature, National Park System Urban Task Force and Centennial Advisory Committee, Franklin Park (Washington, D.C.), and Heart of Brooklyn. She received degrees from Bucknell University (BA) and University of Pennsylvania (MLA), studied at Tokyo’s Sophia University, and completed the Executive Leadership Program at Stanford University School of Business. She is a resident of Washington, DC, and enjoys hiking and biking through Rock Creek Park as well as frequent trips to Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park–especially in the spring for the Cherry Blossom Festival–a cultural landscape project she helped launch that continues to inform her work today.

Dr. Daniel Johnson is a short-term consultant for the World Bank and a researcher at the Institute for Ecological Economy Research in the research field Ecological economics and Environmental policy. With publications in international scientific journals, his research focus lies in the field of environmental economics. He has a keen interest in the ecosystem services of urban green, and using methods in environmental economics, he pursues increasing the awareness of the value of ecosystem services to cities. Dr. Johnson completed his doctoral degree at ESCP Business School Berlin, his M.Sc. in Water and Environmental Management from Leibniz University of Hannover, and his B.Sc. in Environmental Management from the Brandenburg University of Technology. His latest project is dedicated to the sustainable soil management to unleash soil biodiversity potential and increase environmental, economic and social well being.

Since 2021, Joachim Maes works as a policy analyst at the Policy Development and Economic Analysis Unit of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy. He supports the integration of climate and biodiversity data in support of the EU’s cohesion policy. Before, he was researcher and scientific project leader at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. He is an expert in biodiversity, ecosystem services and natural capital accounting providing scientific support to the Commission’s biodiversity policies and to the UN’s system of environmental economic accounting. Before joining the European Commission, Joachim Maes worked as scientist at the Flemish Institute for Technological research (VITO) and the Flemish Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). He obtained a PhD in biology at the University of Leuven, Belgium, studying the role of shallow coastal and estuarine areas for fish. Joachim Maes is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of One Ecosystem, a scientific journal from Pensoft, Bulgaria.

Tanya Müller García is an Agronomist Engineer specializing in Horticulture and current president of her Alma Mater Zamorano University. Prior to this, she served as Director of Climate Action Planning Latin America for the organization C40 Cities, which promotes the design and adoption of climate change programs in megacities worldwide. Also, she served as Secretary of Environment of Mexico City Government from 2012 to 2018; under her leadership, the City issued the first forest carbon credit and the first green bond as a local government in Latin America. Additionally, she launched the Climate Action Program 2014-2020, intending to mitigate 10 million tons of CO2 Eq and build resilience for 5.6 million inhabitants. In 2014, the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, elected her to be one of the 12 UN High- Level Advisory Group for Sustainable Transport. For the last 8 years, she has participated in several high-level international forums as a keynote speaker by her remarkable leadership on global climate change.

Gregory Giuliani is the Head of the Digital Earth Unit and Swiss Data Cube Project Leader at GRID-Geneva of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Geneva’s Institute for Environmental Sciences. Gregory Giuliani, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Geneva is a geologist and environmental scientist who specializes in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) analyses and Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). He also works at GRID-Geneva of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) since 2001, where he was previously the focal point for Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and is currently the Head of the Digital Earth Unit. Gregory’s research focuses on Land Change Science and how Earth observations can be used to monitor and assess environmental changes and support sustainable development. Interdisciplinary is a key element for generating new ideas and innovations in his research. He also previously worked as a GIS Consultant for the World Health Organization, as a University tutor in remote sensing and GIS and as a GIS developer in a local Swiss GIS company. After obtaining a degree in Earth Sciences, Gregory went on to complete a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences, specializing in remote sensing, GIS, and SDI.

Gyorgyi Galik is a London-based innovation designer, design strategist and environmental advocate. She is the Head of Strategic Partnerships at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. She also did a PhD in Innovation Design Engineering, School of Design at the Royal College of Art in London (focusing on design and climate change). With a background in social design, behavioural science and environmental health, Gyorgyi has seventeen years of experience designing and delivering experimental research, innovation and technology design projects in the corporate, governmental and non-governmental sectors. She has designed, led and managed a variety of projects in North America, Asia and Europe - working in organisations ranging from small start-ups, individual communities and large corporations to national and city governments. As a speaker and curator, she has participated in numerous prestigious conferences, workshops and industry events on design, behaviour change, and the climate crisis. She has given talks at COP26 in Glasgow, EPIC 2019 in Providence, at COP21 in Paris, at the World Interaction Design Day in Dublin, at the Smart City Expo in Puebla, at the TM Smart City Forum in Yinchuan, at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt’s Anthropocene Campus in Berlin, and the ‘Healthy Environments Across Generations’ Intergenerational Conference in New York, among others.

In 2019 she joined the ‘Green Line Sofia’ team and is part of the concept development for ‘Green Ring Sofia’.

In April 2016, arch. Zdravko Zdravkov won the competition for the election of Chief Architect of Sofia Municipality. On May 16, 2016 he took over the position of Chief Architect of Sofia Municipality and Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. He won the competition for chief architect with his concept for managing the system and the process of urban planning and development of Sofia Municipality.

Dr. Alexander Simidchiev is a specialist in pulmonary diseases, internal medicine and health management. He graduated in medicine in Sofia in 1988 with a gold medal. He specialized in pulmonary diseases in Germany and France. His career started at the Specialized Hospital for the Treatment of Pulmonary Diseases "St. Panteleimon" in the town. He started his career in Pernik. Subsequently, he was an assistant professor at the St. Sofia". Currently he works at the Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical Institute of the Ministry of Interior in Sofia and is the head of the Functional Diagnostics Department. He has taken an active stance on environmental issues as Chair of the Air for Health Association and as a member of the informal Multi-Expert Group on Climate Change. He is also the Medical Director of the Centre for e-learning and distance learning at Plovdiv Medical University.

Harini Nagendra is Director of the Azim Premji University Research Center, and leads the University’s Center for Climate Change and Sustainability. Over the past 30 years, Prof. Nagendra is internationally known for 30 years of research examining conservation in forests and cities of South Asia. For her interdisciplinary research and practice, she has received a number of awards including the 2009 Cozzarelli Prize from the US National Academy of Sciences, the 2013 Elinor Ostrom Senior Scholar award, and the 2017 Clarivate Web of Science award. Her publications include the books “Nature in the City: Bengaluru in the Past, Present and Future” (Oxford University Press, 2016) and “Cities and Canopies: The Tree Book of Indian Cities” (Penguin, 2019) as well as over 150 research publications including recent papers in Nature, Nature Sustainability, and Science. She writes a monthly column ‘The Green Goblin’ in the Deccan Herald newspaper, and is a well known public speaker and writer on issues of urban sustainability in India. Professor Nagendra has been a Lead Author on the IPCC AR5 reports, and a past Science Committee member of DIVERSITAS and the Global Land Programme. She engages with international science and policy through her involvement as a Steering Committee member of the Future Earth Programme for Ecosystem Change and Society, and the Future Earth Urban Knowledge Advisory Network. She is on the Advisory Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s Climate-KIC, the WRI Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities, and the Earth Leadership Program (formerly the Leopold Leadership Program). She is also a fiction writer, with a historical mystery series set in 1920s colonial Bangalore.

Assoc. Prof. Angel Dzhambov, MD, PhD, DSc - associate professor at the Department of Hygiene at Medical University of Plovdiv and project assistant at Graz University of Technology Angel Dzhambov is an associate professor at the Department of Hygiene at Medical University of Plovdiv and a project assistant at Graz University of Technology. He graduated with a MSc in medicine degree from the Medical University of Plovdiv and has postgraduate qualifications in the fields of preventive medicine, environmental health, and mental health. He has defended two dissertations based on his research on the effects of noise pollution on the prevalence of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases (PhD) and the exposure to greenspace and noise pollution on mental health (DSc). Assoc. Prof. Dzhambov’s research interests and research in Bulgaria and Austria cover the effects of natural environments, traffic noise, and air pollution on mental health, cardiovascular and allergic diseases, and birth outcomes. He has published over 60 scientific publications in prestigious international journals, which have been cited more than 1,700 times in the international literature. He is a participant in two projects under the Horizon 2020 program and is acting as an external expert in one project of the World Health Organization. In 2017, he received the prestigious Rebecca James Baker Award from the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) for his work on the mechanisms behind the effects of greenery on mental health. Since 2020, he is an invited guest-lecturer in the MSc in Epidemiology Program at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, with a talk on "Green and Blue Spaces and Health". He is member of the editorial boards of several international journals in the field of environmental health, including the flagship journal Environment International. He ranked in the 1% scientists in the ranking of Stanford University for the impact on world science in 2020.

He is the founder of the OneTree Foundation, which aims to create an interactive map of urban trees. Through the broad participation of citizens and the expert base of crowdsourcing, the project collects and updates data on urban vegetation through an Internet GIS-based platform optimized for mobile use. The data created by the initiative will be open so that it can be used freely and improve the care for the people of the city in the long run. The work of One Tree aims to increase general knowledge about woody vegetation and to contribute to better planning, design and management of the green system in cities, creating conditions for citizen involvement in these processes.
